Keeping babies healthy while at the doctor: as you may remember we had to go to the doctor for our little one over the weekend. Something I thought of while we were there was, “great, just because I don’t have an otoscope (to check in my little one’s ears) at home, my little one is going to catch something even worse being around all the sick kids in the waiting room”. So how do you keep your kids from getting sick at the doctors?
– lots of hand washing! Before you give your little one a snack, after you change their diaper, after they sneeze or cough in their hands
-try to bring some toys of your own so your little one doesn’t need to play with the waiting room toys
– if your little one has a cough, diarrhea, cold let the receptionist know and they may take you to a separate room to wait
– if you think your child has an illness that is very contagious, like measles or chickenpox, please let the receptionist know before you go
– make sure you keep all of your child’s immunizations up to date
Does your doctors office have any policies for infection control?
