Conversations with your Children

Conversations with your Children

A recent study in the journal Pediatrics, that was highlighted on CBC news today, found that having back and forth conversations with your little ones leads to higher IQ and better language skills when they are in middle school. They discuss 18-24 months as being the most important time to ensure you are reading and interacting with your child through conversations, pointing and asking questions while reading books and answering their babbles with sentences of your own. So not only for my parents out there, but my colleagues who see children in their first two years of life, it is important to demonstrate and ensure your families are providing their littles ones with communication reciprocity in reading, play and day to day activities.
