Vitamin D and Older Children

Vitamin D and Older Children

Vitamin D supplementation and older children: after yesterday’s post I got a lot of messages about the recommendations for children who are no longer breastfed or formula fed exclusively. Children who are not getting 400-600 IU of Vit D through supplemented foods/drinks (ie formula or Vit D supplemented milk) should receive 400-600 IU of Vit D daily. Some children with certain medical conditions or risk factors might need higher doses so always check with your doctor! •
We just switched to giving Vit D to our daughter in a dropper and she loves it. She reaches for it when she sees the bottle which is really helpful in reminding me to give her her supplement. •
Picture is a #flashback to out little one enjoying the natural Vit D from the sun in the summer.
